What are inexpensive ways to eat out for 2 weeks?

with 4 comments

We are taking a family vacation this summer. We are driving 2000 miles to Texas for two whole weeks to visit family and we need your ideas for eating out that is inexpensive! There will be 6 of us…all young adults and one teen. We are staying with family for the most part and I plan on buying things for breakfast but for lunch and supper, I’ll have to think of creative ways to eat on a budget. For two weeks that be quite costly. My 3 brothers will have us over the odd time for suppers but for the most part we’ll be on our own. Any great ideas out there??

One way is to eliminate either lunch or dinner. You can save money by having your family snack on nuts, fruits, etc.. during the day between breakfast and dinner to eliminate having to spend money on lunches. That also happens to be a very healthy lifestyle. As far as dinners, just try to pick restaurants that are less expensive, such as Mexican, which I’m assuming you can find anywhere in Texas for prices under $10 per person. Also, depending on where you’re staying, you could bring a small, portable gas grill, do some grocery shopping in Texas, and grill some chicken and veggies. I have a Portable gas grill, and it has been amazing in many situations. Totally worth the investment.

  2. You are staying with family, which is good for your food budget. You can use their kitchen. My husbands family comes to visit and they always grill out. Stock up on snacks. Fruits, nuts, granola bars, ect. Also bring drinks. You can really cut down the drink cost if you take drinks with you.
